Important Announcement
It is my pleasure to announce a new direction that the publication of our work is taking. However, I would first like to congratulate Joe and his wife, Casey, on the birth of their new and first daughter, Cali. She arrived a bit earlier than expected, but is doing very well and will be coming home to Mom and Dad soon.
For the last few weeks, Joe and I have been tossing around ideas for our first published work outside the Internet. Printing is expensive, and starting out with no advertising means all costs are out of pocket. We even looked at buying our own printing press. I suggested releasing issues on CD-Roms, that cost very little in bulk. But, Joe pointed out that most folks who have access to a computer can already see us on the Internet. So, we have decided to release our work in an audio Compact Disc format. Almost everyone has access to a CD player. Also, we feel that releasing our publication in audio will be a unique way to reach more people, who are more than likely to listen to an audio presentation when provided with a free CD.
There are a lot of great things that can be done with audio, and we plan to make full use of the possibilities that this media can bring. Again, at a small cost per disc and cover art, it is economical. We already have most of the equipment and software needed to put out our first release, so production is starting immediately. I will be contacting all current participating writers to schedule audio recordings.
At the forefront of our project, as November is fast closing in, is getting out the vote. The first disc should convince listeners to go to the polls and vote. So, I ask all writers to please post here a few lines about why you think it is important to vote. Again, a lot of what we write now I hope to convert into an audio presentation. So, keep that in mind as you write.
I already have some audio music content lined up. I will be asking more artists to participate.
I hope you all will agree that this is an exciting turn for the Urban Star. I look forward to working with all of you on this project.
