Let the mud sling

It looks like the presidential campaign is in full swing. In other words, accusation and mud slinging has begun. The first salvos have come from the vice-presidential candidates. Mr. Cheney, just how is John Kerry being elected going to cause a terror attack? Didn't the current administration blow off reports of an planned attack on the U.S. a month before the attack on the World Trade Center? Hasn't the invasion and occupation of Iraq fueled Al-Qaeda and helped them recruit many new followers? (Note to Zell Miller [news - website]: we are occupying Iraq.) I'm sorry, but, I don't see us being any safer under a second Bush term than under John Kerry. I'm hoping that Kerry has the insight to focus on the economy and how Bush has ignored the problems of the common man in his push to bring his form of democracy to the oil fields of Iraq.

I also want a discussion about the current mess of a health care system we have. During the Republican convention last week there was some talk about reforming(deforming) the system. But, all I heard were plans to give insurance and drug companies more leverage and income. We did that last year in passing Medicare reform.

One last thought for right now: we need to re-elect Russ Fiengold [news - website] to the Senate. He is one of the few senators who has the guts to say and do what he feels is correct. My best guess his opponent will be Russ Darrow [news - website]. We don't need to have another car dealer in Washington. Feingold is one senator who will listen to his constituents as evidenced by his holding meetings in every county in the state every year. You can even see what was discussed at these meetings on his Senate web site. I urge everyone to support his re-election. He will have a rough fight against Darrow. After all, when was the last time a car salesman told you the truth?
